India Wins Women's Blind Cricket Series 4-1
In an impressive show of superiority, Team India secured a 4-1 series victory against Nepal in the inaugural Women's Bilateral Cricket Series for the Blind 2023, triumphing in the final match held at Police Gymkhana Cricket Ground. Powered by Simu Das' half-century and a collective batting performance from the Indian women's team, the hosts comfortably sealed the win against Nepal in the fifth T20 encounter. Despite Binita Pun's strong batting for Nepal resulting in a score of 153/6 in their 20 overs, India efficiently chased the target, cruising to an 8-wicket victory over the visitors. Simu Das was honored with the player of the match award.
India had sealed the series (3-1) by Thursday as Nepal suffered a loss in the fourth T20. Initially, India claimed two consecutive victories, but Nepal made a comeback in the third T20. Subsequently, India secured two more wins, ultimately dominating the series with a commanding 4-1 triumph. Following a 1-3 series defeat in Nepal earlier in the year, the Indian Women's team was determined to reverse their fortunes this time around. In preparation for the series, the women's squad underwent an intensive 22-day cricket coaching camp starting on November 20, 2023, at CBD Belapur, Maharashtra.
Regarding the match, Nepal opted to bat first and posted a score of 153/6, propelled by Binita Pun's half-century. Captain Gita Paudal's 40 runs off 39 deliveries aided Nepal in achieving a respectable total, especially after early wickets fell within the initial seven overs. Although the final match was inconsequential in terms of the series result, India displayed full commitment, securing victory. Simu Das led the charge with a fifty, while Ravanni, Basanti Hansda and Ganga Kadam contributed with scores of 28, 23, and 22 respectively.
